What to Expect at Wild Oaks Counseling

A Clear, Compassionate Path—Step by Step

You’ve already done the hard part by reaching out. Now you deserve a process that’s simple, respectful of your time, and designed for deep results. My clients are insightful, growth-minded women—high-achieving professionals, busy moms, healthcare workers, and survivors of childhood/relationship or religious (high-control) trauma, including women navigating neurodivergence. Therapy here is bespoke: tailored to your goals and free from insurance limits.

How We Get Started

1) Reach Out

Click Schedule Your Free Consultation to complete a short form and request a 20-minute phone chat. We’ll discuss your goals, questions, and whether weekly therapy or a therapy intensive fits best.

2) Find the Right Fit

Fit matters. If we’re not the best match, I’ll offer thoughtful referrals. If we are, we’ll choose your format (weekly/biweekly or intensive), confirm online or in-person, and set your first date.

3) Secure, Simple Paperwork

You’ll receive HIPAA-secure portal access to complete intake forms before we meet, so session time is focused on you, not paperwork.

Your First Session: What It’s Like

If You’re In-Person (Ooltewah—minutes from Chattanooga & North GA)

Settle into the waiting area with coffee, tea, or water. I’ll greet you and walk you back to a confidential, grounding office space. We’ll map your priorities, clarify outcomes, and start building safety in your nervous system and relationships.

If You’re Online (TN, CO, FL)

Find a private, comfortable spot; headphones can help. We’ll confirm tech, review your goals, and begin at your pace. Online sessions use the same trauma-focused approaches as in-person.

What we do in Session:

  • Explore what brings you in and what relief would look like.

  • Identify patterns (people-pleasing, perfectionism, conflict avoidance, anxiety, shame).

  • Choose the right mix of modalities (relational work, BrainspottingART) to help your “emotion brain” believe what your “logic brain” already knows.

You’ll leave with clarity—insights, next steps, and, when helpful, brief practices to support your nervous system between sessions.

Ongoing Therapy: Weekly or Biweekly

  • 50-minute sessions focused on steady progress.

  • We’ll review goals at meaningful checkpoints (e.g., 6–8 sessions) and adjust as needed.

  • Because this is private pay, we’re not constrained by insurance rules—we can go deeper, shift formats, or extend a session when clinically appropriate.

What to Expect in a Therapy Intensive (Fast, Focused Results)

  • Pre-Intensive Interview: clarify goals, readiness, and supports.

  • Personalized Workbook: prepare your mind/body for deeper processing.

  • 2–3 hour sessions (single day or multiple days): targeted Brainspotting and/or ART to process stuck memories, sensations, and beliefs.

  • Post-Intensive Integration: reflect, consolidate gains, and plan next steps.

Many high-achieving women choose intensives to create momentum without months of weekly scheduling.

Aftercare & Between-Session Support

You’ll receive simple, personalized strategies (grounding, self-compassion, boundary language, journaling prompts) that fit real life—no elaborate homework, just what works

FAQs

Q: What happens in the first therapy session?
We’ll clarify goals, review your history and current stressors, and decide on the right approaches (relational work, Brainspotting, ART). You’ll leave with next steps and realistic tools for your week.

Q: Do you offer online sessions?
Yes—secure telehealth for clients in Tennessee, Colorado, and Florida. Online care uses the same trauma-focused modalities as in-person.

Q: How do therapy intensives work?
After a pre-interview and a short workbook, you’ll complete 2–3 hour processing sessions (single or multi-day) using Brainspotting/ART, followed by a post-intensive integration session.

Q: Are you in-network with insurance?
No. I’m private pay to protect flexibility and depth. Many clients use out-of-network benefits for partial reimbursement and may pay via HSA/FSA.

Q: How do I know if I should choose weekly therapy or an intensive?
If you want steady support over time, weekly is great. If you need momentum quickly—or have a demanding schedule—an intensive can deliver faster relief. We’ll decide together in your consult.
